Paul Sagues, Founder and Chairman
Paul is a seasoned veteran with a distinguished career in the process control business. Paul is a co-founder of Berkeley Process Control, a company that generated more than $250 million in sales in the high precision motion and machine control business. Paul co-authored the textbook Microprocessors for Measurement and Control (Osborne/McGraw-Hill) with Professor David M. Auslander of the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Sagues has more than two dozen patents in the field of microprocessor based control systems. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Stanford University and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
John R. Pitcairn, Chief Financial Officer
John is a member of the California Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. He is also a member of the Manitoba and Canadian Association of CAs. John was CFO of Noble Land and Cattle before forming his own company, Pitcairn Accountants, Inc. The practice later focused on litigation services for corporations and attorneys. The practice involved extensive testimony in loss of income cases in federal, state and government agency courts as well as working on many mediation and arbitration cases. His clients included numerous high tech firms such as Intel Corporation, National Semiconductor, other Fortune 500 companies, major law firms and various government agencies. John is a board member of the San Francisco Opera.
Mauritz Botha, Vice President of Engineering
Mauritz was the co-founder and CTO of a Lontech and Sperolon, where he was the architect for intelligent residential demand side systems and the SL2000 environmental sensing system that is widely deployed in mines in South Africa. Mauritz worked as a product manager for Coactive Neworks that included moving to large scale production of home gateway systems for a large Swedish utility. He was the co-founder and CTO of IMSI-Design, responsible for the TurboCAD range where he helped establish TurboCAD as the dominant CAD application in retail in the US. Mauritz is Chairman of the Board of the Open Design Alliance, an entity providing libraries for open exchange of geometry between various popular CAD platforms. He holds a Bachelor in Electronic Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch, an Hons. Bachelor of Computer Engineering from the University of Pretoria and a Masters of Electrical Engineering (cum laude) from the University of Potchefstroom. He also holds a patent on a machine vision system for industrial control.
Mario J. Lento, Director of Business Development
Mario has extensive experience as an engineer working with complex industrial processes from semiconductor to nuclear power to medical equipment. He was actively involved with the design team for Soft-I/O through its long development cycle. After beginning his career as a metallurgist working with high-strength alloys, he moved into the controls business as a Engineering Project Manager. Mr. Lento gravitated to problem solving by selling complex control solutions. In that role, Mr. Lento has more than ten years experience selling tens of millions of dollars of motion and machine control solutions. His customers included General Electric, Boeing, Applied Materials, Novellus Systems and Siemens Medical Solutions. Mario earned his BS (Cum Laude) in Industrial Management and Electrical Engineering from the University of Lowell, Lowell Massachusetts. He has published numerous technical articles on machine control systems. Mario is an avid racing coach for racecar drivers. He is a driving instructor for NASA Pro Racing, TEAM Racing, and in 2007 won the California Region Championship for Performance Touring, class E.
